Pa villon

Briefly

« Conifer’s make perfectly straight hedges, they grow quickly, they hide us »

Pa villon is a participative piece. Two groups from the audience opposite each other are prompted by « video scores ». They observe each other, introduce themselves and talk to each other. The score is projected on screens overhanging each set of seating. It’s made up of animated text and stage directions (texts to say and texts to do). Guided by these the audience becomes the performer always alert within a hectic fiction.
Pa villon is a game where the spectator forgets individuality to become part of a group serving a polyphony and a choreography. They are members of a choral creating in turn a sonic landscape, interpreting experimental linguistic songs and in a sparring match and a plot of sign language they talk to the group facing them.
At times Anne de Sterk and David Rolland worm their way in to this pavilion to orchestrate the encounter: hosts, dancers, masters of the game.
An outmoded poetry emerges from Pa villon, a conversation between neighbours in an immaculate residential area.
